Rachel Hamer BandThe Rachel Hamer Band are a folk band based in Newcastle. Its four members came together in 2013 over a shared love of music and song. They perform an exciting blend of traditional and contemporary songs.

Rachel Hamer is from North East England and has grown up surrounded by folk music, folk clubs and festivals. She has been influenced by the best singers in the tradition but retains her own unique powerful singing style.

Grace Smith is a fiddle player, clog dancer and singer from Teesside. She has grown up with folk clubs and Folkworks events, playing festivals and gigs. She is now a student on the Folk and Traditional Music degree in Newcastle as well as doing lots of performing and teaching.

Graeme Armstrong from Jedburgh is a fine guitarist steeped in the Scottish tradition.

Sam Partridge from Glossop plays an eclectic array of musical instruments including flute, whistle, harmonium, keyboards and, on occasion, the bassoon.

Listen to The Rachel Hamer Band perform  “Wreck of the Dandenong” and “The Pitman’s Courtship”.
