The Foxglove Trio join us for a St David’s Day concert. Patrick, Ffion and Cathy bring together a wealth of talent and diverse backgrounds. Cathy Mason is a music teacher who limits herself in the trio to singing, and playing cello and guitar. Ffion Mair was awarded Best Celtic Folk Singer at Llangollen Eisteddfod 2011; she plays the whistle and brings a bit of bodhran to boot. Patrick Dean plays melodeon, cello and concertina; he is also part of ceilidh band ‘The Spring Heeled Jacks’.

The trio’s performances contain self-penned songs, traditional songs and pieces that merge music and lyrics old, new, borrowed and blue (to borrow a phrase).

Last time we invited the Foxgloves to TwickFolk, Cathy was unable to join them, so we’re looking forward to the full line-up joining us this year.

The video above is from 18 April 2015 at The Slaughtered Lamb in London, while below is a song from August 2015 at the Ty Gwerin (folk house) at Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru (the National Eisteddfod of Wales) in Meifod, mid Wales:
