Daria Kulesh has been described by Mike Harding as “one of the finest voices and one of the most intriguing and interesting songwriters on the present folk scene”.  Her performances are refreshing and mesmerising, full of passion and magic.

Born in Russia but based in the UK for the last 15 years, she fearlessly explores her heritage and turbulent family history in Ingushetia (North Caucasus) with songs that “aren’t just sung, but lived”. Mixing her Eastern roots with Western folk influences creates an original and exciting sound.

Her debut release Eternal Child was described as “phenomenal”, her second album Long Lost Home enjoyed rave reviews and multiple awards, including LCM Album of the Year, and her latest studio release Earthly Delights was named “one of the year’s finest albums” by Folk Radio UK.  Daria has toured extensively in the UK and Europe, sharing stories and songs that are deeply personal but feel universal and timeless. Every performance is an “emotional, compelling and uplifting experience”, leaving the audiences “completely spellbound”.

Here’s Daria playing for TwickFolk in 2016:

Odette Michell is an award-winning British folk singer-songwriter, guitarist and bouzouki player with a stunning new take on the acoustic tradition and a voice capable of demonstrating the finer points of both folk and traditional song with genuine craftsmanship.

In January 2020 Odette won Female Artist Of The Year at the 2019 FATEA Awards, following in the footsteps of previous winners Kitty Macfarlane and Cara Dillon, respectively; and in May 2020 Odette was nominated for a Rising Star Award at the 2020 Folking Awards. In January 2021 Odette was invited to perform at Celtic Connections as part of the legendary Danny Kyle Open Stage.

In April 2019, Odette released her debut album ‘The Wildest Rose’ at TwickFolk in 2019. The album featured notable musical contributions from Phil Beer and Toby Shaer (Cara Dillon, Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys) and gained widespread positive acclaim.

Daria & Odette perform in a trio with Karen Pfeiffer, as ‘Michell, Pfeiffer & Kulesh’. Expect to see them on the festival circuit, sounding like this…
