Sally Ironmonger & Brian Carter have been writing, performing and bickering together for nearly 20 years. They have produced 4 studio albums of songs about shipyards, prostitutes, trips to the seaside, self-deprecating amusing songs and protest anthems.
Based in Medway, they write contemporary folk songs, with a nod to traditional themes. Sally describes their work as “modern folk songs, telling stories and making social comment, making people laugh as well as think.”
Brian has worked as a professional and semi-professional musician all of his adult life. Over the years he has developed a style which fuses jazz, folk & latin to produce a unique mix of melody and bass rhythms.
Over the years they have written commissions for BBC documentaries and Broadstairs Folk Week, and have been supporting artists for Belshazzar’s Feast, Barbara Dickson, Jacqui McShee, Chris Wood & Jez Lowe. They also won the Milkmaid Folk Club Folk Song competition in 2016.
