Janie Rothfield (from the USA) is an internationally known traditional fiddler, clawhammer banjo player, tune composer, dance musician, band leader and teacher who has been playing traditional music since her teens! She has fans from around the world of her lively, spirited and soulful playing and singing and she has performed throughout the USA, Canada, the UK, Europe and Australia! Janie plays from her heart and musical soul with great technique and expression and a whole lot of fun! Janie’s specialty is in American Appalachian old-time music, and her concerts include a magical mix of traditional and original tunes and songs. She is an award-winning fiddler, clawhammer banjo player and tune composer (2 times a winner of Clifftop Appalachian Music Festival BEST ORIGINAL TUNE) and her original compositions are inspired by the past and present with an old and contemporary sound. In addition to her fine instrumental chops on both fiddle and clawhammer banjo, Janie’s sings with a fine clear voice and loves it when audiences join in!

For the UK concerts, Janie will be joined on guitar, mandolin and harmony vocals by London based guitarist/mandolinist Paul Martin and other “special guests”!

Most recently, Janie formed the hot new old-time roots music duo HEN’S TEETH, with multi-instrumentalist (cello, fiddle, banjo, guitar) Nathan Bontrager. Since forming in 2016, Hen’s Teeth has toured in Europe and in the American NW.
