Sue Graves needs little introduction to TwickFolk regulars. A key member of the organising team for many years, she has sung in folk clubs for as long as she can remember and has been a member of groups including Soiree and Voiceover. For the past decade Sue has and performed in highly respected Surrey five-piece Suntrap.
Tonight’s performance celebrates the launch of Sue’s latest CD, “The Surrey Nightingale”. Expect a selection of heartfelt songs, delivered with Sue’s clear and expressive voice and accompanied by guitar, tenor guitar and ukulele.
Sue will be joined by guests including Sue Evans, Lynne Whiteland and Suntrap members Mary Wilson, Sara Byers, Tom Evans and John Sandall for what promises to be an evening of quality music from one of the best voices in folk.
Louella JC and Leo Palzer are a singer-songwriter duo accompanying themselves on guitar, banjo and ukulele. They combine an original repertoire of songs of love, anger, revenge, social injustice and women’s lives – spanning the navigation of contemporary motherhood to the dilemmas of moth eradication – with their own re-workings of songs from the English and American Folk traditions. They are becoming well known for the dark material of the stories they tell, punctuated by spine tingling harmonies and flashes of humour.
Lou & Leo have played widely across the folk clubs of London and both have been recording material – Louella’s album, This Is All There Is, was released in 2024, and a release by Leo is currently in the making. Lou & Leo are regularly joined by Craig Hilton on percussion.
