Presenting live acoustic music in Twickenham most Sundays, at Patchworks, The Cabbage Patch pub, 2 minutes from Twickenham Station

TwickFolk has been presenting live music in South West London since January 1983. We are now one of the best-known and most highly respected hosts of live acoustic, folk, blues and Americana in South East England. We aim to book the best quality acts across a broad range of genres – traditional and contemporary music from Britain, Europe and beyond. Doors open at 7.45pm, for music at 8pm. The Cabbage Patch serves a selection of real ales and craft beers alongside everything you’d expect of a pub, including food.

Coming up at TwickFolk:

5 May: Singaround: bring a song or two, join in, or just come and listen!

Another of our popular singaround evenings.

Expect anything from sea shanties to psychedelia, with a mix of original songs, traditional songs and covers of well known and less known songs.
Some performers will take requests on the night.

If you fancy a go at singing in public, then this is the place to start.

If you just want to sit back and listen, that’s also fine.

We welcome anyone with a song or a tune to play. Or a poem or a story tell. Expect a warm welcome and a supportive ring of singers and audience.

Non-performers are welcome to come and there is no need to pre-book.

12 May: Joe Topping + Steve Warner

Joe Topping is a folk singer and multi instrumentalist from Liverpool, described by Sir Tom Jones as “a Weaver of Dreams”. His singing and guitar playing have entertained audiences all over the world, including live sessions on BBC Radio 2, ITV television, The National Film Awards, SXSW in Texas and of course a memorable night at TwickFolk in 2016.

Joe has played on stage and in the studio with many legends of the British folk scene including members of Fairport Convention, Andy Irvine and toured as stand in lead vocalist in the BBC2 award winning “Best live Act” Home Service.

Joe was a member of the legendary Ashley Hutching’s Rainbow Chasers, Charlie Landsborough’s touring band and is a member of festival favourites Elbow Jane.

During the Covid pandemic, Joe was asked to enter ITV’s The Voice and, seeing it as fun challenge to do while the rest of the music industry was shut down, decided to give it… Continue reading. →

19 May: Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman

Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman have long established themselves as one of the UK folk scene’s most rewardingly enduring partnerships.

Duos come and duos go… And some nurture and fine tune their art and watch it grow into  something totally original, captivating and award-winning.

Bonded by an unseen alchemy, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman have entwined their professional and personal relationship into an enviable class act of imaginative songwriting and musicianship.

The Dartmoor-based husband and wife have twice won the coveted ‘Best Duo’ title at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (2016 & 2013), consistently delivering assured, distinctive performances whether live or recorded. Over two decades of performance they have never been trapped in a groove – always bold and innovative, mixing traditional song arrangements with their self-penned material which reels from the bitter to the sweet, the wry to the sad, the political to the passive.

The couple’s intimacy and strength of passion on stage have won them many fans and an enviable reputation as ‘songwriters par excellence’- (fRoots), whose greatly varied original songs cover such subjects as wicked mermaids, Norwegian legends, and… Continue reading. →
