A storyteller from the age of three, Bedford began by dictating stories to his parents before he could even hold a pen. He continued to write short stories into his early teens when he finally picked up the guitar and discovered his mother's Gordon Lightfoot collection. This prompted a foray into the world of folk and Americana that included artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Richard Shindell, and Patty Griffin whose work resonated with Bedford and inspired him to try his hand at songwriting. At university he became sidetracked by his love of music and writing. Studying historical texts instilled in Bedford a fascination with gritty human truths and the plight of the 'common man' through the ages. "Lincoln's Man" was released in 2008 and instantly started making waves on Folk radio. Bedford's second album "Land of the Shadows" built on this success when released a year later. |
