CHARITY EVENT: Singaround – an evening of songs to support The Armistice Pals project, benefiting four charities

Date/Time Sun 02 Nov 2014 7:45 PM

Price On The Door - £3

Peace Through FolkAll the music at TwickFolk is live and our singarounds give everyone a chance to sing, play an instrument, recite a poem or tell a story.

If you just want to sit back and listen, that’s also fine, although we encourage everyone to join in with the choruses.

There is no need to pre-book.

The theme for this evening’s singaround is Peace. To mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War we have joined forces with The Armistice Pals project, whose new single “Where Have All The Flowers Gone?” will be released on 9 November. We will close the evening by filming a communal rendition of that song and are hoping that our video will also be included on The Armistice Pals’ website.

The proceeds from tonight’s event –  a minimum £3 donation is suggested – will be shared between British Red Cross, The Malala Fund, The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, and Peace Through Folk.

Peggy Seeger has given her blessings and explains more in this video:

WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE? (Pete Seeger/Joe Hickerson)

Where have all the flowers gone? Long time passing

Where have all the flowers gone? Long time ago

Where have all the flowers gone? Gone to young girls every one

When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone? Long time passing

Where have all the young girls gone? Long time ago

Where have all the young girls gone? Gone to young men every one

When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone? Long time passing

Where have all the young men gone? Long time ago

Where have all the young men gone? Gone to soldiers every one

When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone? Long time passing

Where have all the soldiers gone? Long time ago

Where have all the soldiers gone? Gone to graveyards, every one

When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone? Long time passing

Where have all the graveyards gone? Long time ago

Where have all the graveyards gone? Gone to flowers, every one

When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?

Where have all the flowers gone? Long time passing

Where have all the flowers gone? Long time ago

Where have all the flowers gone? Gone to young girls every one

When will WE ever learn? When will WE ever learn?
